Fireware Doesn't Work!

hey,

i just got my NEC 1100A dvd writter, and i tried to update the firmware on it. But it failed half way though.
And now the pc doesn't reconise the dvd drive, it knows its there tho. And the drive just flashes and the cd tray doesn't come out.

Any help?

Doesn't recognise it but still knows it's there?

Do you mean that it's detected in the bios, but windows ignores it?

Have you tried re-flashing it?

If not, RMA it, it's better than having a dead drive to stare at..

the bios recognises it, but windows doesn't. I have tried reflashing it, but the ulitily for it doesn't recognises that theres the dvd writter there. Anyway its beening rma'd tomorrow. Cheers anyway.
