4400+ @ 2.640Ghz - only 8000 in 3dMark2005?

So this weekend I had a go at overclocking my X2 4400+. It's watercooled, so it only ever really gets warm.

My RAM is Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX, running at: 2-3-3-6, 1T

I've set all the other memory values at Auto.

I set multiplier at 11x, and the FSB at 240.

I set the HT multiplier at 3x, and the RAM divider at 5/6

The box seems stable enough, but I only get around 8400 in 3dmark2005.

I'm sure before, I've had in excess of 11000.

Can anyone see if I'm doing anything stupid? I've got an XFX 7800GTX Extreme Edition in there, and I'm sure something's a bit odd!

Any help appreciated...

Hello there. 3dmark 05 is very GPU dependent. You only really notice CPU overclocks, with SLI/crossfire, and over 3.2Ghz on A64's, i.e Phaze cooled.

Your score looks fine, what are the GTX clocks? I was scoring around 8400+ with 470/1300 and around 9100 with 520/1400 with the system in my sig.

That scores about right for that GFX card. '05 is much more GPU dependent than all previous versions :)

11000 seems extemely high for a single card. My 7800GT does about 7700 and 256MB GTXs are only around 10% faster, so 8400 seems about right. Could it have been a previous version of 3DMark you were using?

8400 seems about wright to me.
I get about 7600 on my 7800GT (450 / 1200) clocks and the ayatem in sig, also with comparison link.

Drivers can make a bit of a differance to, the latest officail Nvidia's gave me a good few points boost (81.98).

Also you may want to try 3Dmark06 if you like benching, that will actually use dual core CPUs to thier potential!

Yep my old 512mb beat that but the 256 are slower cards in general

Thanks guys, looks like I was remembering 3dmark03 :-). Will try loosening the RAM timings tonight to see if I can hit higher Mhz....

A card with a different chipset, that costs 50% more, with twice the memory and CPU overclocked to 2.75 GHz. Not exactly comparing like with like is it?
