Well for gaming the 4000+ is the better choice NOW, but in the future this may not be the case.

Still the 4000+ is a safe bet, but if you want to overclock the 3700+ is a much better choice.

As for the RAM, check out the first G-SKILL kit here-

Great ram, the retailer is fine most of the time.

Dont get the Hiper, Go for a Seasonic S12 500/600W. Simple as that.

    Good luck in your build!

You actually expect to be able to play those games on a PCI TNT2 graphics card? I suspect they will probably outright refuse to run on that.

Don't get the Seasonic, get the Hiper (Translated: get either, they both work fine)

I can't see why people are still getting single core CPUs, on the basis that they will be able to ebay it for some piddling amount in 3 months time and then get the CPU they wanted all along. Still, each to their own.

    Zad,

I would not reccomend the Hiper because of reported clicking noises and the random few blowing up :O . The seasonic is a much more stable, quiet and reliable PSU. No nonense. You will be able to use it in a few rigs down the line too.

The 3800X2 is a good idea yes, with that ram you will be able to get a decent clock out of it.

    Good luck.

The Hiper is fantastic I use one and I've recommended it to people who have also been very impressed after they got them. All the Hiper's i've seen have been as near to silent as possible and it was only the first batch that 'blew-up' the current ones are fantastic.

Another vote for the 3700+ can happily run it at FX-55/57 speeds and its a fraction of the cost.

its just that corsair r expensive tbh for good corsair ram you will pay for it, with regard to the cpu thing here are the things to do and not to do

    dual core:

    3800+ 512 cache 2000 mhz 211 pounds
    4200+512 cache 2200 mhz 260 pounds
    4400+1 mb cache 2200mhz 334 pounds
    4600+ 512 cache 2400 mhz 411 pounds
    4800+ 1 mb cache 2400 mhz 470 pounds

so you see the 4600 is a waste of time so to im afraid is the 4200,what you should do is if u got the cashe get the 4400 for the cache coz i mb is what you want, or if you dont ave that cash dnt bother with the 4200 coz the 3800 is the same increase the htt by 20 basically and you got the same cpu saving yourself 50 quid.
it may not be quite this simple but im almost certain that for a 200 mhz increase it would be a very simple overclock like that.

If Microdirect still do the 7800GT for £190 you might be able to have your cake and eat it too... ish

The option I would suggest is go for the

    3700+ San Diego for £160
    Corsair PC4000 2GB Kit for £158
    Hiper Type-R PSU for £62

all from Scan and then the 7800GT from Microdirect (if they still do it) that comes in at a little over £550 but will give you a top system.
