Need help: SATA refuse to boot on NF4 SLI-DR

Just trying to migrate my system from Asus A8N-SLI Premium to DFI NF4 SLI-DR.

Moved the while setup over (only replacing board, case and PSU). The system booted, but it stuck in the boot screen when its detecting the SATA drives.

I had 4 Hitachi 7K250 160GBs (2 SATA and 2 PATA /w adapter) attached to my A8N-SLI Premium and worked fine, but I couldn't get into setup (it just stuck at detecting ide), it detected the model fine, but it just kinda hang there.

Using 623 bios, going to try using my lovely 704 bios now and see how it goes...

Update1:: Hell... Tried the 704 BIOS and the problem still exist...It doesn't take ANY OF MY FOUR DRIVES regardless of what port I plug in...

Update2: Removed the Audigy2, no joy

Update3: Connected 2 of the disks onto SIIL3114 in SATA mode, booted into windows without and problem and the disks are online, since I fitted a Zalman GPU heatsink on the NF4 I can only use 2 out of SIL3114 ports at the moment And the giant heatsink does block my USB headers as well Currently doing surface scan on the disks

I had that problem myself recently. I just needed to jiggle the SATA cables around, it looks like I had a loose connection. One thing which was suggested to me was that you really need to connect all 4 power cables to the mobo as at this link:

    http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6615

to ensure stability. Maybe try that? Perhaps the chipset's not getting enough juice. Out of interest, why did you swap mobos? I did exactly the same 'cos my Asus blew up. When the one I RMAd returns, I'll probably swap back to the Asus as watercooling the chipset isn't possible on the DFI.

Were the drives RAIDed previously? i know its very trick to switch moterboard without doing a complete reinstall fo windows. PC Stats have a guide here: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1755

The first bit is really simple but read it through and it shows you have to do a Repair install.

Well, I tried 8 different SATA cables and it doesn't get through BIOS (it scanned the drive but wouldn't continue)

Now I have 2 of the HDDs running off IDE and 2 running off SIL3114 and now in windows. The drives are software raided in windows and they work fine with the IDE/SIL3114 setup now (although previously I was using all 4 drives through A8N-SLI premium's onboard NF4 SATA.
I also tried only the 2 native SATA HDDs on the NF4 and it still doesn't work.

It is definitely not SATA cable/drive problem because they are in fact running perfectly now.
