Akasa TIM-clean or Isopropyl? (Cleaning CPU etc.)

A quick look on Ebay shows that Isopropyl isn't that cheap really, since it is often sold in larger quantity (cheaper per ml to the TIM-clean, but chances are, I don't NEED 0.5L).

One would think that the Akasa TIM clean should be a better cleaner for thermal pastes, since it is designed for that purpose. But is that really the case?
[Isopropyl is a known for its cleaning properties for many things, is there any reason to believe that the TIM-clean offer something special that the Isopropyl doesn't?]

All i've ever used is nail varnish remover & cotton wool buds!

I've only ever used TIM and its worked a treat everytime. It appears to break down any left over thermal paste and thus make it much easier to remove and clean.

bog roll and TIM is all you need to clean a chip

i emailed arctic silver about the akasa TIM cleaner a while back (before they had any cleaning products available) and they said that the akasa stuff leaves an oily residue behind that will interfere with the arctic silver. they suggested the isopropyl alcohol. im sure they know best!

p.s. and i got some really strange looks when i asked for it at the pharmacy in tescos.

I've successfully used that akasa tim cleaner on several chips and graphic cards its excellent breaks it down and lets you wipe it off. Never had any problem reaplying thermal compund after using it. Give it a go.

They would say that though - they want you to use Articlean!

I use TIM cleaner and its good stuff. Last for ages, works well and even smells nice

I got stuck in a jam and had to use one of Game's CD cleaning kits, comes with a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol and some lint free pads, all for a fiver!

TIM gets my vote as well... and I can tell u that it works with AS5.. I use it all the time...
