    motherboard suggestions

Hi all, as i've convinced myself to upgrade (from XP3200 barton) i would like some MB recommendations. I'm thinking of getting an A64 3700+ CPU and looking for a stable (not necessarily for O/C) which does not have SLi (i can't see myself getting dual cards).

Looking at usual suspects from ABIT, ASUS. can anyone give some tips please, are there any real disadvantages of not getting a SLi board apart from the obvious one

Would like to spend under £70

    Cheers

PCI express i assume? THe epox boards are definately worth a look. Also, i reckon youll probably be better with a 3800 x3 rather than a 3700, although i dont know what your budget thinks.

the asrock dual-sata board is a great option if you have an agp card and are planning to upgrade to pci-express

Not much difference between the Nforce4 Ultra and the SLI. The entry level 4X chipset has some stuff disabled, including some SATA features (NCQ and the high 300 speed I think).

With ASUS the SLI boards seem to have more frequent BIOS updates too (specially the Deluxe).

As you are on a budget, be careful of 20pin vs 24 pin power supply connectors unless your socket-A system already has a 24 pin PSU.

you could try a dfi nf4 board...the bottom of the range board can be modded into a higher model - could be a good way of saving cash....and its a decent clocker too.

I'd get a DFI board but I'm fussy. The Abit's ok - but I think for a cheap board with great features I'd get an EpoX board
