Cool Time to OC the system

    Hey everyone... new member

Looking to overclock CPU, FSB, and MEM:

Here is the system I just built:
    Case: Thermaltake SViking
Power: ULTRA 550W X2-Connect Power Supply – Titanium
    Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego
    GPU: Sapphire Radeon X850XT (OC'd 621/641)
Cooling: Swiftech H2O-120-Premium Kit with GPU & Chipset blocks
    RAM: G Skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX (1G x 2)
    DVD R/W - CD R/W: Shuttle CR-40
HD: WD Caviar SE EIDE 160GB
    LCD: ViewSonic VX910
    OS: Win XP Home

I know the MSI board has dynamic overclocking... don't trust it to find the best OC for my system though!

    Anyone have any reccomendations?

Anyone use NVidia NTune to OC thier system?

I'm going to isolate each section and find the max for it.

Going to use Prime95, SuperPI, and Memtest to test the stability after each round!

    Wish me luck!

Didn't have much luck with nTune for my system. I just went through the BIOS. Slowly raise you FSB, a few MHz at a time until windows becomes unstable then raise the voltage, my 3700+ is comfortable anywhere between 250x11 and 260x11. Once you've sorted that move onto the memory, try getting the timings as tight as possible while running in T1. I'm by no means an expert so there are probably some flaws with this method but it worked great for me.

There are some great overclocking guides, tell you all about HTT and allsorts - worth having a read. Not being rude, but try the search button You will find more than anyone can type in a single post! I think Hexus did an overclocking A64 guide at one point in the past too?

Good Grief, missed the PSU in first glance through the spec, don't stand to near the case when you overclock it...

Thanks everyone... I searched and found a ton of guides! Going to glean some info from them and see what my numbers turn out like.

RavenNight... Is this a bad PSU? I searched for reviews on PSU's for a while on the web and this one never had a bad one. This is Ultra's updated version of the x-connect. It has a 120mm fan instead of the 80mm ones.

Well it's too late now... If it blows-up I take a casualty report and then start over again! LOL

Ultra PSUs aren't known for their stability or build quality, my mate went for one because it looked flashy, the first one blew-up (literally) so he RMA'd it, second one wsa in pieces when it arrived, he gave up and went for a nice safe Hiper.
