I've been using the heat sink fan that came with my amd a64 3700+...but it's really noisy. I was thinking about buying a new fan but haven't the foggiest what to purcahse after having a quick look at scan..as there seems to be the heat sink and the fan..do i need to buy both??
Any recomendations on good fans(socket 939 btw)...about £50 would be my limit..cheers guys!!
for the best a64 3700+ cooling, id go with a scythe ninja heatsink and a quiet fan of your choice...maybe something like an led coolermaster fan.... but you do need to buy them seperately, a lot of heatsinks these days come without a fan.
Alternatively you could get the scythe ninja and a high power fan, with a fan controller to turn it down when you dont need as much performance from your cooling

Are they hard to install? i managed to build my own system..but really not sure how to install one of those hsf!

the zalman is a heatsink/fan combo. Youd want that or the scythe + a fan. They arent any harder to mount than the stock cooler (well, they are, but its only a case of 2 screws, so they arent hard)
Ahh ok then, I think i'm going to go with a Zalman CNPS9500-LED Aero Flower then, a friend has one and seems happy with it. Sound like a good idea??
I was in exactly the same boat, I've been blown away by the performance of my Zalman CNPS9500LED, its incredibly quiet and very cold. Its easy to install, you just screw it into the holes on most boards, you don't even need to remove the motherboard. It keeps my overclocked 3700 at 26C idle and about 31-32C under load.

Cheers for that...am going to order one now..does £37.54 sound good from OcUK? had bad experiences with them before, would rather get it from somewhere else. Any ideas where to get it from?
