Headset recommendations

Hi guys, giving my old headset to my dad so that he may use it for skype and getting a new one for myself. Anyone got any recommendations they'd like to share with me? I'm all ears I don't want anything majorly fancy, just something comfortable, reliable and with good sound output.

Speedlink Medusa, 5.1 in a headset, incredibly comfy, great for games and movies.

I use the Sennheiser PC130's, they are pretty good for everything I do with them (inc music making hurhur).

depends on ur budget mate. But medusa are meant to be very good bang for ur buck

yep got some sen pc150's here although my one complaint would be comfort, although it may just be my head shape, but otherwise the sound quality is excellent

I've had a Microsoft Game Voice headset and control pad for years, happy with that. You can use the pad for voice channels in games, and for voice command of the PC which works, well, alright.

Just suggesting it cos I think it's good and no doubt you can get one cheaply on eBay.

I had one of those - the GameVoice gimmick wore off quickly but the headset lived on! It's a Plantronics Audio .60, lasted me over 4 years till I eventually replaced it (because the earpads were worn out, it still worked)...with another Plantronics Audio .60. Very nice headset, good sound quality, lightweight, and cheap - about £11 from Amazon. Could even go up the model range if you feel like spending more.

I'd have to agree with the Sennheisers, they have been rediculously comfortable - I'm actually looking to get a new pair as I just snapped the audio connector off the end (a considerable amount of force was required to do so however)

another vote for the medusa's - 5.1 positional audio, comfy, not expensive, good sound quality.... just don't get the USB ones, go for the ones that hook into your soundcard

Thanks for the recommendations guys, might go for a pair of Tobemans which he doesn't use anymore as his prices are so nice

Would you say these are good for simply listening to music with? I need some for just quiet relaxation without annoying the neighbours

Any reason you say not to get the USB ones? I find my USB headset much better than my old one that plugged directly to the sound card. Now I can allow my normal sound to come through my 5.1 speaker setup and only have voice comms on my headset. Allows a lot more customisation, being able to separate game sound effects/music/voice comms.

Ah. Other than that I couldn't think of any reason to tie up a USB socket with headphones.

The Intel High Definition Audio set on some motherboards does that - it has multistreaming, so you can specify which sound source comes out where. Like a DVD could come out your 5.1 speakers, but music or something only through your headphones. Or game sounds in the speakers and voice chat over the headset.

You can get it on some nForce AM2 and some Intel motherboards.

I have a set of the Medusa 5.1s sat in the cupboard....I found them to be extremly uncomfortable (can't even imagine what they would be like in this heat!) and the mic on them was terrible, complaint after complaint that people couldn't understand me.
