    Talking NF7-S + TwinMOS Newbie

Just set this up, a NF7-S v2.0, XP1700 TbredB and a gig of Winbond PC3200 (2x 512). What sort of clocks should I be aiming for, and what's the news on getting the nVidia system utility to work fully with this board?

    Thanks

straight off, multi @ 10x, ram at 200mhz.. thats 2Ghz, work up from there, either try 10.5/11/11.5/12 etc til you reach a limit, then go back to the previous multi and then whack up the fsb... depends on the ram, might be able to get 210/220/230

    good luck

(my tbred is at 2.3 (11.5x200) but i only have some pc2700 samsung ram)

Should be good overclocking. Remember every product is different at overclocking.

    The abit will be good.
What code is the tbred xp1700 (both are good, the 1.5vcore (default) is better though.)
RAM should be good as well maybe limited it the chips are only winbond, and the PCB is generic.

    I get 2.2ghz out of mine (abit nf7-s, 2x256mb pc2700 sammy, xp1700 (1.6vcore) cooling=AIR

my friend (streester) gets 2.3ghz (2.4ghz not stable) out of his (epox [kt333], 2x256mb sammy, xp1700 (1.5vcore) cooling=WATER

people have got theres to 2.6 or something silly with a vapochill or something expensive

*2mins too slow... streester beat me.*

hohoho beat you will... i have the dlt3c juihb one, which means lower default voltage = lower temps at default, and potentially higher o/c, but mine is at 1.7v now (dont want to bust the chip with too much voltage), i'm sure loads more people will reply saying how they've hit 2.6/2.7Ghz with a prommie or something equally frustrating.

Ok mate. You will easily get 2.2GHz as i have

Go for 11.5 multi and 200 fsb with 1.65 vcore that shoud do the trick

The nvidia utility is totally unnecessary mate. Abits soft menu does it all

With a good cooler and psu you should get 2.3GHz.. think trash man has that

Pretty much covered right there. If you want to be ultra safe switch the multiplier dwon so that you run very close to stock speed but with 400FSB (2x200mhz). Then take it 1 notch up at a time testing thoroughly you are truly stable. Voltage is also an issue, 1.65v is the norm for the TbredB/Barton so you might as well set that before you bargain o/c'ing as it isn't technically overvolting. When you find you get instability either back off a notch or two OR simply add 0.05v more at a time until you can get higher. Adding voltage produces a lot more heat and stress on the CPU so bear that in mind esp if extra voltage only carries minimal gains (esp in real perf). 1.70v is a safe overvolt, many use up to 1.80v but that is quite a lot for these 0.13mu CPUs.

As said for a rough idea you should breeze 2.0ghz, probably stable with only 1.55v which can be a good way to run fast AND cool/quiet. Anyway generally you'll get 2.2ghz @ 1.65v(ish) which with 400FSB is roughly XP3000+ for TbredB. Biggest warning is to be certain your cooler is up to it before adding extra voltage. Also o/c'ing the gfx card tends to bring you much more in gaming than CPU/mobo.
