will the above fit the A8N32-SLI .. and how much temp drop will i get over the stock cooler?
i was using a zalman znps7000-cu and now i've fitted my freezer its over 10 degrees cooler!
been looking on net at reviews and there raving about it ... only thing is put the mem in first ...
pity there not in stock at scan yet
froogle it. scan's price is pretty expensive compared to some other places
THANKS i froogled and got this

also remember if you don't want to break the motherboard it's likely you'll haveto take everything out of the box to fit it, the springclip is apparently pretty strong.

do you have one of these?
Mine makes an annoying whine - it's quiet, but I'm distinctly and frustratingly aware of it! Does anyone know an easy fix? I was going to pick up a variable speed control (like Zalman's little black box one) and find a less annoying frequency, but that means ordering one, and waiting for it, and installing it, and stuff. Effort! :P
Other than the whine (which is not a common problem, it seems - probably just a combination of factors in my specific install), it seems to work a treat! :) 37 degrees on an Opteron 146 @ 2.4GHz. :) Cheap, too.

The spring clip is so easy to install (way easier than the stock cooler). You don't even need a screw driver to help. But its somehow not tight enough IMO.Quote:

I have no personal expierience, so it might just depend on batch >.>
my idle temps were in the 40s with my zalman and now around 30 with my freezer. It's ace!

Not in my experience, the clip is actually way softer than the stock cooler. That was Custom PC that said it was strong, I think what happened is that there are two small studs that fit into holes to keep the clip in one specific position and when they reviewed it they must no thave alligned the studs with the holes. Hhhhm hard to explain but there is most definitely no need to remove the mobo, the cooler is very very very easy to fit.Quote:

All in all it's a very good cooler for less than £20 :)
reviews and personal opinion seems high, will be purchasing this week, will let you know how i get on with it

wot cooler do you have at moment?
Since everyone got a different case and different configurations, look at others' temp is not a really good idea. Depends on which AMD stock cooler you're replacing, if its X2 / Opteron DC coolers the Freezer 64Pro is not going to be a lot better. BUT if its lower-end stock cooler like 3000+ / 3200+ then it will help a lot.Quote:

Idle temp is not an accurate measurement of heatsink performance. Again depends on CnQ, your CPU's idle freq/voltage could be far lower than one without CnQ on. also 0% CPU is different from 5% (which if you run some P2P its not uncommon to see that kind of load).
It would be best to have the idle and full load temperature as close as possible to reduce thermal stress within the CPU. Although I do not know how effective that would be, but for some people it seems to "preserve" overclocking because of the slower deterioration rate.
I have got the arctic freezer pro on a a8n32 and it fits onlu just fits with about 1mm gap between it and the heat pipes.but i have got it so that it works with the back to front cooling of my silverstone tj-07.Most cases pull air from the front and out the back.mine pulls in from the back and exhausta out the top, good case tbh
yes i no wot you mean ... i looked at loads of reviews and all different .. but i did not see one with it on a x2 (this is the chip i have the 3800) and there all saying that the x2 run at the same heat .. which puzzles me as it is 2 chips in one .. i run at 51 idle at cold or warm system on a A8N32Quote:

Depends what you have now, there are more powerful and coolers definitely but they cost more than twice as much. I was using a coolriver deluxe watercooling kit before but wanted that in my HTPC instead (which is now COMPLETELY INAUDIBLE :shocked2: ). I was just going to buy another of those but then thought that since my mobo is passively cooled and my graphics card has a very nice and quiet cooler on it I could probably get away with spending just £18 or whatever it was and going back to air cooling, the coolriver is ultra budget and I'm not sure how reliable the pump is, also it cannot be monitored.Quote:

I was looking at this just to upgrade the cooler i have .. the amd one is the stock aluminaum one not the copper pipe on on the higher x2 .. IS THIS ANY GOOD?Quote:

MON you'd be better of with a freezer 64.
Is it better then Thermaltake Big Typhoon ?
I don't think so, but it's definitely cheaper :)
Freezer on my x2 4200 @ 2.4 idle between 25-28. On full load mid 30s. Great cooler and for the money great bargain

Go for the freezer i totally recommend it, you dont need to take the mobo out like they advise and it goes on quite easy, only problem i have is i had to use both hands , one to hold the metal clip onto the lugs on one side the other to push the bracket down on the otherside.
I think it was custom pc that did a review on amd coolers recently and arctic came out top, think the gigabyte was second ?
also it will be better for the air flow looks like i am sticking why the 64 pro..
is it better connected to motherboard on 3 pin or 4 pin IE volt or 12 volt?
also it is good price here

thats a good price , i got mine from KustomPC which is near me and it was £17. i have mine in the 3pin cpu , i cant see any dissadvantage as its a low fan speed.
The Freezer is awesome will fir on the ASUS have it myself , hope u have a good case with a 120m fan which helps further with the cooling should see 5c difference to other coolers which are not close. There are others which are as good such as the thermaltake big typhoon which HUGE!! the freezer is not so compared. U will be happy!
just put it on ... and moved the 120 fan near hard drives. scan heat pipe gtx (caused more heat) that AMD fan i got with the x2 3800 needs to be updated by amd (IT IS CRAP)
before mb 41-44 cpu 51-58 on 3dmark06 full on test .. 120 side fan at 2100 rpm
after mb 36-38 cpu 43-49 on 3dmark06 full on test 120 side fan at 1050 rpm and front back on case
and i have 2 hard drives 1 cdrw plex preium 1 dvdrw 31/2 ice box reader/usb front .. and all the other usual ..
all in a scan alumax case
