    IDE Cable = ATA 100 ? 133 ? > ?

Is there a way I can workout what rating an IDE cable has ? I know the round IDE cable i got with my MSI board is ATA 133, and i think the other normal one I have is ATa 100, but I'm not sure. I also another cable which i'm not sure is even ATA 100 rated and I wanyt to use it, but not if it is less than ATA 100.
    Anyway I can tell ?
    thanks

AFAIK there are only two actual types of IDE cable (rounded aside). The original ones could handle up to ATA33 only, ATA66+ needed 'Conductor 30' (IIRC). Any cable rated ATA66/Conductor 30 should be capable of ATA66-133 the only diff with marking is that the cable has been certified of the faster ATA speed rather than just tehnically capable. Other than markings I'm not certain if you can tell visually.

Sorry to say there is no visual way to identify. As far as i know like Austin said an ATA66 cable is the same as ATA100 & 133. These cables comprise of 80 wires as opposed to the 40 used in ATA33

    oh ok, thx guys
It's just i finally got the replacement for my 40gig IBM drive which I RMA'd, and I have stuck an old 12 gig disk in to run as my system disk, and the ATA 100 cable I have it attached with wont reach both drives, and I wanted to use the only ATA 133 cable I have on the ATA 133 120gig maxtor. Anyway hopefully using the ATA 100 cable on it isn't going to make any difference, as I had to switch them
