    Economies of Scale in Hardware

Mean that when I gave up trying to buy second hand memory today and decided to buy new, I found PC3200 is same dough (within a pound) of PC2700.

SO ....the new Small Form Factor beast shall be going EVEN FASTER.....200fsb here we come

    Unreal......

Moral: Always check the range further up from what you need, JUST IN CASE

Thanks Crucial. I love your ram. I love your prices.

    Heh cool

Crucial are pretty amazing for RAM - Not too expensive and excellent quality.

T'is a true moral of a story - check brand new prices first

Yeah I was looking at prices on DDR400 and DDR433 (and closely comparing the timings) and on some brands it was better to get the 433 (at same timings for about the same price)

Like Geil. which is my second fave after Corsair.

Went through the same thing when i bought the memory for my shuttle, at the time i only had an xp2000 to run at 266, went for the 2700 though to make sure it'd last through a cpu upgrade.

Always a good decision imo as it usually don't cost that much to go that bit extra

Pretty much the same with hard drives aswell. I could have saved about £20 and got a 40gb Maxtor, or I could have spent that extra £20 for twice the capacity. Guess what I did
Its always worth checking the prices that are the next level up IMO.

This is where I get stuck though! I check the prices of the next level... then the next level... then the next level...

    I needed a 40GB HDD for my server.. I bought a 120GB job. I suppose I have a problem with money or something :>

Actually your post interested me, not for the content but an idea to actually use Hexus as a bulk buying setup?.

Could we use the excellent community we have here to negotiate some excellent prices on Hardware?.

Say get 100*80GB disks, for say 10-20% off, i'm sure for £40 people would be snapping them up?.

Maybe its a dream land but it might be possible?

    TiG.

    Excellent idea!

I could only dream of it taking place. Seeing as Hexus is pretty much the central 'hub' for UK hardware!
