HD Input on a PC
Is it possible? What I want to do is somehow get component HD input on my PC so I can run the Xbox 360 in full HD on my PC monitor and also in the future be able to output SKY HD through the PC.
Currently my VGA card has HD output but thats no good as I dont have a HD TV and dont plan on getting a HD TV.

Also seen a lot of cards that offer HD oput via component but call me daft but how do you get the signal into the vid card in the first place so that it can be outputed to a HD TV?

I think you will have trouble finding one just because PCI doesnt support such ludicrous bandwidth as you need. You know there is a connector available for the 360 to take it straight to the monitor?
-
Yea got the VGA cable but that only does up to 1280 x 768 :/
-
Can you not get a splitter so that you have both the XBOX and the PC hooked up to the monitor?
-
Yes but how does that affect me getting HD input on the PC?

I am not aware of any HD PC input cards with the sole exception (in a way) of Firewire.
As for Sky HD: Initially it will offer component as an output source but currently no one knows how long that will last as it will be phased-out rather rapidly in favor of the HDMI interface.
The HDMI interface will have HDCP encryption so you will need an expensive (and currently unknown-to-work) box-of-tricks to remove the HDCP protection, that box could then convert the signal to a standard DVI or VGA signal.
Now, if you do find some way to get a HD input card, you do realise that you couldn't game using it (dely would be too great)? and your Sky functions (IF you can get Sky to feed into PC) would also lag behind on key presses........making this idea very bad unfortunatly.
Sky do not like anyone being able to take their feeds, you currently cannot get a digital stream out of a Sky digital box and the same will almost certainly be the case with SkyHD, in fact i would be surprised if they didn't make it even harder (no one has managed it on the current hardware FYI).
It sounds like what you want is a Home Theatre PC with integrated XBox360 facility. The only way to currently do this is with a HTPC with a monitor/tv/screen that lets you switch the input between the HTPC and the XBox360...and you can't really do Sky with HTPC as they do not sell a Sky PC input card and probably never will.
The closest I have currently seen to a HD input card are the cards here....they still are not HD and I am not sure wether the SDI spec will allow HD later or wether these people will modify SkyHD boxes in the future for SDI, your guess is as good as anyones at this stage.

Cheers, look like what I need then is a new monitor.
Is there currently a sub 10ms response 23 - 24" screen that does 1920 x 1200, has DVI / Component / HDMI inputs and supports HDMI so I wont need to upgrade again?
Or am I asking to much? lol

there are a few screens that support hdmi but i dont know of any that have component in as well.. the nearest thing i can think of is that 32" 1080i lcd @ ~£3k

Yea, looking for some thing that will double up as a PC monitor as well, dont really want to have 2 screens :/
