Alright, I have a P4 2.66 Ghz and an Asus P4C800 Deluxe Mobo (Yeah--It's old, I know). I'm having a hard time deciding between: OCZ OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K (2x1gb), Corsair TWINX2048-4000PT (2x1gb), Corsair Twinx2048-3200c2pt, or 2 sets of Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT. I've heard OCZ is the one of the best (if not the best) memory for oc'ing.
Overclocking is something I intend on possibly doing, but not as soon as I get them. Especially since I don't know how good my old mobo will do at oc'ing. I was also comtemplating getting 2 sets of (2x512) kits for the lower latency that supposedly comes with doing so. The main factor with that is I'm not sure if I'd ever need more memory within the next year or 2.
Though, it probably won't be a problem considering my mobo and cpu probably won't be able to play games that well within a year or two. Leaving me to just buy an entirely new system. Which I intend on doing; I just feel like getting the most out of what I have now before upgrading. Besides, no game at the moment requires more than 2.66ghz to my knowledge.
If there are any better kits within $200-220 price limit, feel free to let me know what you think. Right now I'm leaning towards the OCZ model due to the insanely low latency. Plus is seems to have the highest amount of positive reviews out of any memory at Newegg (1013). I was also wondering if the higher clock that the Corsair 4000PT had was worth the timing tradeoff.
Anyway, I'd greatly appreciate any help with this I can get. I'm ordering as soon as I get a decent amount of opinions. So, post ASAP if you could. Thanks!
