HDD Problem
Hi!
AS my sugs shows I'm Running a Pair of Hitachi Deskstar SATA-II 80GB in Raid 0 using the onboard NVRAID chip on my Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe. The Hitachi Drives aren't 3.0GB/S enabled as you get them, you need to run the Hitachi Ftool utility. This is on their website, you download it and it creates a floppy for you, then in theory you reboot and it gives you the option to change it to 3.0gbps. However when I do it it crashes half-way through the Ftool program, I'm wondering if anyone here has or has used Hitachi drives and knows of any fix to the problem, thanks!

I use the 250Gb version, the 7K250 and have no problem with Ftool, try it on a cd may be ? Or may be it have something to do with RAID ?

Yeah its looking more and more like the RAID is the issue...

Well I tried the CD and no joy, exact same error once its loaded. So tis the RAID. my question is this could I put the RAIDed hard drives on different SATA ports (so not raided) then use the ftool and then put them back to their old ones and somehow repair the RAID?

Issue solved by switching DVD-RW to Master, FTool now works a treat and my RAID is now over twice as fast as a SATA150 drive and it even beats a SCSI according to HD TACH.
