Question on Logitec Wireless Mice

Well, I got my wireless keyboard/mouse combo about 3 years ago, and the charger seems to have stopped working. A bit annoying having to take the battery out and use an external charger on a daily basis, and I am tempted by one of those fancy laser mouse (G7).

The problem though, is that I am not really keen on having two wireless receivers. The charger for my mouse is currently used to connect both my mouse and keyboard to the PC.

So I was wondering if the receiver of a new wireless mice might be able to compatible with older logitech product. A bit of a long shot really, I know, but thought I'd ask

I have to run 2 receivers, one for my mx1000 and one for my older cordless logitech keyboard. No problems with interference though.

I am not worried about interference. But I want to minimise clutter (enough stuff on my table - seriously).

So you can't use the receiver of the MX1000 alone mouse and keyboard? It really would be useful if they provide some sort of "unified" receiver...
