    Memory speed limits?

    Hi

just a quick question as I can't seem to find an answer googling.

I want to add another 1Gb ram to my system and retain dual channel. I currently use 2x512Mb Corsair CMX3500. I remember reading that there some limitations, ie ram speed defaults to 2700 when all 4 slots are filled.

So the question is, is this still the case?

I have the Asrock Dual SATA2 atm, but will be changing to a nforce4 mobo (or the new ATI if it works ok)

Any ideas on compatible modules too?

    Cheers

I think with a new e4 or e6 core opty you can still get ddr400 but you drop from 1t command to 2t command (about a 10% loss in sandra on my system single channel) so most people would be better of selling the 2 x 512 and buying 2 x 1Gb for 2 Gb.
The choice is yours to make.

It is not a motherboard issues as the memory controler in on the cpu.
