Problem with sound playing DVD, using Creative Software

Been playing around with my new XI-Fi Platinum sound card, i found the start button, that pops up the software.

Now when i 1st opened it, it asked me to configure. Ive always used Power DvD in the past, and it always said at the top, 2 speakers, but i have Stereo checked and all 5 speakers work and sound great. The confiure thing of the Creative software looked the same. I choose another option SPDIF or somet, and now i get no sound whilst playing a DvD. Sound works on the menu, but not the film? WTF do i need to do, and also how to set it up for best sound?

    Cheers.

By choosing spdif its the sound is output via the digital out ie for an external decoder. You need to reconfiguer to 5.1 in the speaker pannel.

In powerDVD check configuration in the audio section there is a drop down box in there choose your speaker option.

In media source check: tools, speaker settings, then select whatever your set up is, (like 5.1) then check the sync with control panel box (check cp is correct too). Now go tools, THX set up and make sure it's the same ( 5.1 too). If you have DTS neo6 uncheck it. Check CMSS in EAX advanced HD and play around whilst running a movie, if you are playing stereo content some of the CMSS settings can result in no or very low sound on larger set ups. Hope you sort it, let us know if you figure it out.

I've got an X-Fi and I don't think the Creative software has an in-built DVD player, I know it can play Audio DVDs but not the normal Video type.

Platinum does, when i press 'start' on the remote, get a range of different players, for video, music, etc.

Ill try those things Rhyth, butim pretty sure there all setup up correctly.

EDIT: Checked everything and it'sas you say Rhyth. Remember iam on about the creative player that works with the remote here. Everything else is fine.

    Nevermind lads, found the settings.

Whats best to use? I can only select 2 speaker mode from the drop down box, and Stereo and Dolby surround are the 2 options.
