I bought a 146 CABJE. I've got it clocked at 2.7Ghz with no extra voltage. I've got an Asrock 939 Dual Sata II so I can't up the voltage or take the HTT bus higher than 275Mhz, so it might be able to go higher with a better mobo.

Sounds like opteron 146's are clocking well on new steppings. Heard rumours they were struggling now.

Got a new 144 running on new Arctic Silver so not settled but I booted and got into Windows at 333 FSB. Did not last too long before BSOD but now quite happy at 315 on 1.48V.

Just got my 146 from scan yesterday - managed to get the system setup this morning. So far 2.6ghz no probs, but if I try to boot at 270 or 2.7ghz no boot - am i missing a simple bios setting?
this is my first 64bit cpu - using an ASOCK Dual Sata2. Dunno what the stepping is. Also using an EVO 33 AKASA cooler - quite a leap from my last CoolermasterAero V.

Had some bother getting the RAM to run at 400mhz - but by leaving timing at default it seems to have settled at 416mhz
Wise old man won't you help me please? My house is a squash and a squeeze.

It could be that you need to up the vcore slightly to get it to post. Not sure how far you can go on an ASROCK board but I think you are quite restricted on voltage.
Also your memory might need a divider to work properly at high FSB

have you run the RAM on a divider, this may well help getting it to boot, depending on the RAM type. Also have you changed the HTT multiplier down from 5 to 3, you don't want the HTT going over 1000 really, so stick it at 3 and see if it'll boot at 270
That cooler should keep you pretty well covered, it's got my toledo 3800 X2 @ 2.6GHz under 50 degrees load, and dual cores run warm lol.
