castle donington, near derby. and thanx for all the good suggestions people. this one's got me perplexed. i think i'll do what quarryman suggests and rebuild from scratch.

For joy, apparently, it was all Franny could do to hold the phone, even with both hands.

what noise does it make if u just leave the RAM out? or is the pulsing bit the problem?
what wattage/make is the psu?

reset cmos and hold insert when you try to boot, should reset any settings to defaults... bleep codes point to ram, and iv got that error before when my ram is eitheer over or under volted too much.
350w enermax psu, so i doubt thats the problem. does seem to point to it though. thanks again to all for good advice.
