    More of HarryOatcakes Probs.

    Helloooooooo, All.

Can anyone please explain why all my Usb ports are connected but only a couple appear to work, I have tested them by plugging the sender unit of my mouse in, and on Usb1 only 2 appear to work.

My Usb2 I cannot check because I do not have any appliances to plugin.

Finaly, I have recentely purchased a Belkin Compact Flash Unit for Digital Camera Downloads, after installing the Belkin Software Cd. I only appear to have 2 shortcuts, ie, format, and uninstall
so how the hell do I transfer my photo's to C:.

What mobo are you using? If the ports come from leads plugged into your mobo (usually terminating at the PCI backplate) then they may be loose or incorrectly plugged. If they are on the fron tof the case then they probably need plugging into the mobo. If they are integrated tot he std ATX backplate of the mobo then there's most likely a hw fault. What OS are you using as even WinXP needs SP1 (ideally before mobo drivers) to enable USB2. USB2 ports are backwards comptible to USB1 BTW.

as Austin said, where are you plugging them in to? are they plugged in near the back top? or back lower? or front ?

if they are back top, maybe a chipset issue

back lower, maybe not plugged in right

    front, see back lower

different companies have different standard pin layouts for usb ports too, are you using the cable that came with the motherboard, or the one that came with the case? check the cable colours are the same and in the same places if you're using the case one.
