Adding memory to sim 2000 laptop

    Thread moved from Help forum.

I bought one of those little Medion SIM 2000 laptops (from Ady who frequents these forums). Its absolutely brilliant but needs more memory.

I found an archived thread which includes some instructions and photos showing how to get the laptop apart so that memory can be added:

However, even with this guide I can't see how to get the keyboard up so that I can access the memory slots below.

    Can anyone help?

Hmm, no replies in just over a month. Never mind, I'll reply to my own post.

I've gritted my teeth and pulled the thing apart. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The keyboard, which I was afraid of breaking, just needed a little encouragement around the edges with a small screwdriver to make it come free.

Problem now is: after re-assembly the optical drive doesn't work
