CD-ROM not showing up CD's when put in?

Hey all, I have a problem. My cd rom drive was working perfectly and now only one is working but the other wont recognize any cd. It ejects when I right click it and ask it to but when I put in different cd's it acts as though it isnt even there. The only thing I did was change the IDE cable to the exact same one. Anyone got an idea?

You probably did this already, but have you swapped the original cable back?? have you checked for bent pin(s)? Did you accidently change slave/master settings on drive?

could be some dregs of drm sitting around in there somewhere?

maybe try flashing it with new firmware, see if this helps

Jumpers back in same place (Cable Select), I tryed a cable that was working on my other drive on the broken one but it still did same thing, took it out to see if any pins were bent but nope.

"dregs of drm" what is this? If he's considering some dust than I dunno I dont have any air dusters but I sure used some of my man made air.

I'll try flashing it with some new firmware, if I cant find it i'll be back here to ask maybe for a guidence.

Well flashing the drive didnt do anything. Would also resetting the bios work? I know that sounds far fetched but i've heard things.

Can you try the drive in another computer - if it works then that helps locate the problem to you computer, if it doesn't then there is a fair indication that the problem is with the drive itself and a chance it may for some reason, have gone to that great optical drive park in the sky!
