If you're not having any problems with Windows 2000 Pro, I would stick with it. Windows XP does have a slight performance edge, but at this point and time, Vista is nearing it's public beta test and RTM release. I would wait awhile.

I now much prefer XP Pro over 2k, but with Vista coming up I wouldn't bother.

Hmmm... I don't fancy 12 months of a buggy, virus targeted windows version like vista.
How much performance increase we talking?

virus targeted, after playing with vista beta i would say its the best secure desktop os i've seen other than a trusted platform!

XP has some token rights management, and some APIs that certain applications require.

As an Ex Mac user for 16 years up until 3 years ago, I MUCH prefer XP to W2K, it is maybe a wee bit quicker, but more reliable and has better security with SP2.

Asfor Vista... don'y think I will be going thar route any time in the next 2 years an maybe longer... till we see how it REALLY is, particulary DRM wise.....

not sure if it matters but if you want to play games there are some, ( or at least elder scrolls oblivion) that will ONLY run on windows XP.
