Me want Ultrabook
Looks very very sweet
Damnit I wasn't gonna buy any PC stuff
Doesn't look great, but hey, everybody loves a flamethrower!Originally Posted by sawyen
The explosion for Ghost Recon is legend...
And those phy-power thingy + those gigantic physics with barrels and other debris in cellfactor is just too cool to be true...
And check out the alpha blending... top of its class..
Me want Ultrabook
That's done on the GPU though...Originally Posted by sawyen
Will be interesting to see how HavocFX compares (and whatever ATI will call their's). I may go SLI after all....

Will be interesting if ATI works with Ageia.. Cross computation across PCI express.. works just like SLI, but this time ur not bound to a specific GPU during upgrade..
Me want Ultrabook
What if PhysX comes up with a multi-PPU solution? a dual PPU board with 512MB DDR3.. You can even simulate facial hair and ear goo with that amount of PPU power...

Yummy, BFG have one priced for $300, quite a fair bit of money to be fair.
Primary kit:
Fuji S5 Pro - Nikkor AF 50/1.8 - Nikkor AF 85/1.8
Epson RD-1
Film Kit:
Leica M3 - Summicron 50/2 DR - Zeiss ZM 25/2.8 - M-Rokkor 40/2
Olympus OM2n - Zuiko 50/2 Macro - Zuiko 50/1.4 - Zuiko 35/2.8
What is the compatibility like?
Cellfactor looks sweet.
If the engine take up by game designers is good, then could we see this as a way of enabling "SLI-like performance enhancements" on non-SLI systems?
I remember buying a Voodoo2 to pair with my Matrox Millenium many moons ago, when 2D/3D combo cards where pretty naff. Are we going to see the same with independent Physics cards, if the big 2 start integrating PPU capabilities into their GPUs?

Seems HAVOC is the green eye monster here.. teaming up with Nvidia and such, but having SLI to drive PPU is slightly impractical.. If you think now..
Say u have a 7800GT now.. in order to run PPU on SLI, u'll need another 7800GT..
After say a year or so, gfx demands go up.. perhaps PPU demands did not, but ur stuck with 2x7800GT.. while others are using 8800 Ultra or N800 GTX etc etc with a good old PhysX.. In order to get the PPU to work again with better gfx IQ, u'd have to sell 2 7800GT.. then invest the money on TWO high end cards again.. which I think a dedicated PPU shud cost less...
I cant see the sense really.. Unless PPU gets obsolete as fast as GPUs..
A high end GPU now would be mid range in 6 months.. lowish-mid in a year.. perhaps even discountinued..

Actually, I still don't get why you MUST have SLI for this to work o.O
