    Shuttle XPC SD31P Ticking Noise

Hey I just got this new shuttle. It's running great!

However, I couldn't help but notice a ticking sound in the computer, it seems to come from the powersupply/vid card area.

I also noticed that it seems to go away when im not rendering anything 3d intensive (games).

The sound is really concerning me and I'm wondering what I can do to stop it!

    Shuttle XPC SD31P
    SilentX 350W PSU
    Intel 660
    eVGA 7800GT OC'ed
    2GB DDR2 667MHZ

Other than this noise, I have seen nothing else wrong with my machine, but even as I type now this sound is extremely irritating!!

Could be from the main ICE fan on the back.

Try going into the BIOS, and playing with the fan speed. If it is the ICE fan, then you should be able to make the noise come and go by making the fan spin faster and slower.

Does it do it when the machines powered down, have had a few shuttles that seem to tick when there off, crappy PSU's :/

It could be the PSU.. It's coming from the video card area.

Could it be my 7800GT rendering things (like I said before, it is more apparent when I put the machine through heavy rendering)

If I exchange this, is there a likely chance that the new PSU will NOT make this sound? Or is it universal among shuttles?
