Drive configuration

Right, on my machine at the mo I have the following drives.

2x80Gb WD SATA
1x300Gb Maxtor SATA
1x160Gb WD SATA

Now, currently the 2 80's are in a stripped array and are split in a 30gb 119Gb C and D drive, C being where all my docs, programs, windows etc are installed.
D where all my games are and a chunk of storage space for drivers etc etc are, idea being windows goes nipples north and I format the C drive and everything I need to get running again is on the D drive, have done it this way for years.
E drive is the 160Gb drive, its just a spare drive atm.
T Drive, the 300gb maxtor, this is where my swap file and temp directories are, used at lans etc as a dump drive and where DVD rips go.

Now, is this the best way to do it from a performace POV, I dont really use the pc for much, IL2, BF2, CS:S and email/web browsing.

It isn't too bad....

If you aren't to fussed about reinstalling windows though, it might be better if you put Windows on the spare single drive.

Then the OS and your games/docs are on seperate drives.

If you uncompress large archives, its worth creating a temp folder on the spare drive and setting your temp variables to point there as well, I find that can help a lot.

Well I'm going to reinstall this afternoon so I'm not fussed, I've backed C/D up to the 300Gb drive so can bin the array if needed, I could put the OS on a seperate drive but thats going to give me a lot of wasted space, after the OS and apps are installed the C drive never really gets touched, I havent had an OS/Apps install get anywhere near filling the 30Gb I have allocated to it.

I suppose I could have an 80 for the C (OS), 80 for D (Games etc) and the 300 as the temp drive and take the 160gb out..
