    Very simple rig specs

OK,heres the thing......I've been asked by a friend to build them a 'puter that will solely be used for Ebaying.
It will have to be able to run a 21" crt (cos they've got one) at 1600x1200 @85htz.
It will not need demon graphics or super sound.....just some/enough of both.
I can make a case for it if that option is needed.
So I figure that it should be not much more than a mobo with cpu and ram...and a hard drive.
Off board psu would be handy to save on cooling options.
    Suggestions,comments and ideas needed please!

i think it comes down to how much does he want to spend? thats a big factor. people can start spitting out stuff but with out a spending limit its not gonna be very helpgul. does he have any other hardware that can be used for the puter other then the monitor (keyboard, mouse, cd drive? ).

as evildoc said, if he wont spend over 300 quid, then you may as well cross out a big selection of stuff, get an idea of what they will spend, and what they want. they intrested in looks at all? i would recomend a 1800+ with a A7S333, 256 mb twinmos 2700/3200 ram, 550 watt Qtec psu, gf2 mx440 ( can get them dirt cheap now, and would be plently for ebay ) onboard sound... 80Gb WD HDD, and a cheap HSF - job pretty much done, can get a cheap 30 quid case from Ebuyer

The plan is for a SFF ....in fact, the smallest SFF possible....is a 550 watt Qtec needed to run what is ,in effect,a mobo and a small hard drive?

The SV25 is a possible......any one got one they dont want?

Thanks for the replies so far......any more ideas?

Why don't you try an SK41G, 18800MHz barton, 256 ram. I can get this system for under US$300. Don't konw what they cost in the UK.

Also try running Mandrake Linux as the OS. I have it on a SB62G2, and the system just rocks.

Like Rexticle has said got for for the SK41G you can get them for £120 new £256MB ram will be more then enough as for the graphics I would go for an ATI Readon 9000 or 9200 cheap very good picture quality and NO FAN!!!!! so does not add to the noise
HDD a seagate 40GB will do CPU XP1700+

    should do the job nicely
