    New Job, New Computer

I just recently got myself a new job for a computer firm and with all new jobs comes a new pay packet With this in mind i decided to buy myself a new computer. I built my last one mostly with success but i don't think i can be arsed this time. So i was just wondering if anyone could point me to a high performance custom pc build website? I've already taken a look at the scan prebuilt in the other thread and also browsed the alienware website. For my money i'd like something could play the latest games at the highest specs and could still last a good few years at the top. Also with this i'd like a high storage capacity and good sound as i also want this to be an all round media center. Dual moniter would be nice also as i have this in my current setup. My budget will be something around £4000, i'm sure i could push it a little bit further is something tastey comes along. So could anyone help me out please?

    Ta

-edit- Also i wanted to add that i've never used water colling before, is it hard to keep and maintain? Tips and advice would be most appreciated.

No, i do some film and animation work for my career, but my computer now can pretty much handle all i need to do. What i want is something that i will be able to play the best games on for a long time. I want it to be a full kit out, so i want everything from mouse to PSU. Everything and more

What about water cooling? Can anyone tell me what to expect with that? Is it easy to clean / maintain?

It doesn't HAVE to be £4000, thats just the limit on the budget. I just want something i'm not going to have to upgrade for a long time. Is dual athlon core and SLI a good idea?

For that money? Tyan thunder K8HM, dual 275s, SLI 7900GTs, the RAID Expansion for it, raid 1 150gb raptors, raid 0 system disks, new stacker (or something else that supposrts EATX) tagan/OCZ/PCP&C psu (800W plus) and youve probably still got change.

Unless you want a montior too, in which case find out how much the 2405 is, knock that off and youll still get a very good FX 60 based system

Yeah i did, had a tiny look at the site. I dunno about it though, it'd be nice to go to a well known website. As i've said before i've allocated myself £4000 but doesn't mean i have to spend it all. I just want to make sure i have something that will last me a good few years at the top.

I would just go for a Quad SLI system, Dual DUAL-core Optys on a Tyan thunder, Load it with 4GB of ECC LLatency and stick that into a Stacker with 5 150GB Raptors in RAID 5. Then add another 2x500GB for storage and a 2405 or apple cinema..

not quad sli.. thats just overkill n waste of money, get a crossfire board with the 3200 chipset and two x1900-XTX that will eb excellent for games and a fx60 dual core chips is excellent aswell.

I really would recomend you build it however if you really cba then:

    SavRow
    VoodooPC
    Scan

Are they ones which spring to mind, also not alienware (sorry, dell) Oh and special paint jobs cost £600 so its not worth it imo, try selecting no at the configuration page and sometimes they included the special paint in the quoted price so that will make the price make more sense.

How keyed up on new hardware are you so we can explain what you can get in a high end system.

Water cooling should be easyish to maintain (buy a good warrenty with it though), occasionally you may need to change the fluid but it depends on the setup, you will find that water cooling in pre built PCs will be tested to hell as it has to be solid.

Also one thing is that i would not got for quad sli (for graphics cards) unless you also want to get dual dual core processors because of bandwidth issues.

In fact, i wouldnt get quad sli, i would get either sli 7900gtx 512mb or xfire 1900xt 512 (no xfire xtx)

In regards to the CPU i would wait a couple of months so you can get the new AMD socket series CPUs AM2 and you can then get a 5000+ or possibly a fx62.

For a Monitor do you want dual or single or even more?

I would recomend monitors from Dell as they are great quality and offer large sizes. However i would not go above 24" I (ie not the 30" one) as then it becomes hard to use.

Extras ie keyboard mouse etc, just pick the best on the configuration page and they are normally good oh and get a good mouse pad too.

For printer scanner just look at the old favorites such as cannon hp etc, if you need one.

Also what speaker arrangement do you want, this depends on you rooms size/ useage, waether you want 2.1 or 5.1 etc.
