Shuttle SB51G : Poor Hard Disc Performance

This is what Intel Application Accelerator thinks about the drive :-

    and here's Sandra 2004 :-

This is obviously far too low from a Western Digital Caviar 80GB Special Edition running NTFS under XP Pro ?

    Any ideas ?

    Cheers

dont use sandra - it is a poor HD benchmark tool - i had the same results as you.

Use HDtach instead - much more accurate and useful results.

Try it without IAA, i don't think it's really needed anyway.

When i used to use it i would get lots of errors in the system log etc..

Sandra doesnt know how to measure didlly squad. It recons 6 x 10,000RPM Ultra320 SCSI hard disks in Raid 5 on a raid controller with 128MB cache can transer at only 80MB/s.

Lol everything else says somewhere between 200-300

Thanks, after using a proper disc benchmark program (HDTACH) it appears like I don't have a problem

    Cheers
