    Power does not start

Hi guys, ive recently got an MSI K8M Neo-V motherboard and Sempron 3000+ 64bit cpu for my parents and i install it all correctly but the power does not switch on. Whenever i try to boot up, the powerpack doesn't even start. The two power cables are inserted correctly, the power is turned on and the power switch header is correctly placed. Im trying to boot up using the cpu ram and graphics card only. The graphics card works as does the psu.

This is the second motherboard in a row thats doing this from Aria. I sent the first one back and bought this one in antisipation of the RMA.

    Anybody got any ideas?

    Cheers

    Fraggie

/Edit when i say it doesn't turn on i mean the powerpack doesn't start at all

check that nothing is shorting the motherboard out, like a standoff or small stray screw, and that you have the correct amount of standoffs in the correct places, or this will cause a short.

obvious things to check. does the psu definately work? have you tried changing the fuse in the plug, or tried a new lead? do you have another psu that you can try?

nothing is shorting out the motherboard seeing as i tried it in an external control environment, the psu is in the pc im currently typing this message from as the motherboard cpu and ram is the upgrade. I will try another psu when i get back home but thats not going to be for a few days so its a bit of a pain in the backside really.

Sounds like a dud PSU if its not even turning on. Is the light on the mobo lit up?

it can't... guess he missread it.

Nothing happening could also indicate CPU, or even RAM, or switch, or.... list goes on. tried the mobo on a table out of case? using a sensible metal object to short the pins to switch it on?

does the new motherboard need a 20 or 24 pin PSU? what pin PSU do you have?
Is the Power cable from plug to PSU fused, have you checked the Fuse?
