    Intel CPU heat questions ?

not being an intel owner before I was wondering how much real difference these 2 cpu specs are going to really make compared to each other for needing extra cooling/heatsink or will the difference be minimal:

    CPU One
    Core Voltage 1.300
    Thermal Guideline 70W
    Thermal Spec 100°C

    CPU Two
    Core Voltage 1.525
    Thermal Guideline 54.3W
    Thermal Spec 69°C

    thanks for any help

On a cooler designed for CPU 2 i reckon CPU 1 would run in the region of 10 degrees hotter if not a little less.

Yeah, its worth the extra 28% heat for 50% better clocks and more than that better performance, (Im assuming you are comparing a 533 fsb 3ghz against a 400 fsb 2ghz).

70w isnt a great deal of heat for a processor. My 3ghz pentium 4 being a prescott is rated at 89w (ive pretty much doubled this with overclocking though...).

Whats the application for this processor? Will it be in a small or quiet pc eg a media pc?

Edit, is that 70w cpu a mobile pentium 4? If im correct in assuming that then itll be designed as slightly more efficient.

    yes the 70w is a P4M

the problem is that the cpu is not directly cooled, its a fujitsu system like dells where they cool the cpu via the psu fan etc

hence my concern on overheating of the hotter chip but it does have a big difference in performance in speed and bus..

i just dont want the machine to be struggling and going overtime trying to cool it
