installed memory info

evening all,

anyone know of an easy to use windows utility which can tell u what speed memory is installed in a PC - preferably suitable for use by complete n00bs (ie: my mum!!)

sis SANDRA should give you the info.
It does the speed its running at and what its rated to iirc.

tell us what pc u got, and we can guess

most pcs less than a gig are pc133 sd ram, any above, namely athlons are usually ddr 266, xp2500 onwards is pc333 athlon 3200 are ddr400

i thought that - but i couldn't find it when i looked

You usually find all the info you need when the PC POSTs, esp when it presents the table. All you shoudl need to do is be quick on the PAUSE key (pause/break). That way you should know 100% the type of CPU, possibly FSB (or can work it out), amount of RAM, # of sticks etc.

sorry austin, useful tho that is this isn't for me - i need something that a PC novice (& i'm talking novice here!) can easily get to grips with.....then report back to me with the results

Tbh m8, the easiet thing in the world is this, will give you mobo/ram/cpu every thing, never failed for me before, and is great for this exact purpose! easy to use no hassle i suggest you install it as well, so you can ask her exactley what to look for, as it gives out a LOT of information

Try Aida IMHO its better than Sandra

Belarc is good, but doesn't give specifics on the memory modules.

CPU-Z v.1.20a is my recommendation. Small program compared to SiSoft and Aida32.
