Front panel/card reader
Hi guys - hope you can help. I'm looking for a front panel to fit in a drive bay that has the following features:
* card reader
* at least one usb port, plus (ideally) firewire
* audio out & mic
I don't need any other features, and I especially don't want an LCD, eSATA, or a fan controller.
I would prefer it to also have the following features, though they are not essential:
*3.5" size (rather than 5.25")
* all wiring internal (so connecting to headers rather than pass through from rear ports)
I have seen an AC Ryan one that looks OK (linky), though it is the larger size (the 3.5" version doesn't have the audio).
Savastore do one (linky), but I don't know if the cabling is internal or not.
So, I need some opinions please. Does anyone have experience of these products? Or know of any better ones that fit the bill?
Ta, Mike

Dont have the headphone sockets though or firewire.
To be honest, all the firewire + audio ones ive seen have been 5.25". 3.5 is quite small to fit all that in :(

the akasa all in oen is good... but it does have ALOT of wires :(
-
I'm actually looking for something similar too, i'm tired of scrambling round the back of my machine to unplug my speakers and plug in my headphone/mic.
laze.

i had my heart set on the Akasa All in one, right up until the day i got paid and went to order it. I read some terrible reviews for it due to the cabling being very messy and so decided to stay well away

yea.. my one aint even in my pc atm... just too much cbales, but really you should only plug in what YOU are goign to use not what it can provide you.
-
You're going to struggle to get all that in a 3.5" slot.
I used one of these on a build for someone else, because they wanted Video-In sockets too.

It comes with a selection of colours to put on the front to match your case, and it has everything you could ever need on there.
Just make sure you plug it into the PSU correctly, the first one I did went up in smoke (literally)!

All i'm really looking for is something that connects to the audio header on my motherboard and links me a headphone and mic jack to the front of my machine... any else is just extra.

Does your case not have those sockets?

No, otherwise i'd have it rather than want it. :-)
