    Which MP3 player?

    Hello,

Using features and the usefulness of those features to base your decision upon, what MP3 player would you buy?

The iAudio X5 or iRiver H320?

    laze.

Has FM Radio, Voice Record, Line in, Will act as a USB Host, you get more leads with it than the inside of a Server Room and it's well built, plus it's bloomin' cheap. Its' not half as big as the picture makes it look either.

The X5 is a lovely piece of kit, but I think you need the subpack to charge it, which adds a fair bit to its size and can be lost. Mp3, ogg vorbis and flac support in the native firmware. Plus there's a long life battery model too, X5L, but not on the 60gb version. Very very nice.

The h320/h340 looks a bit chunky and plasticky to me, but then I'm prejudiced as I have the older slimmer h140, which has a metallic case (with a 60gb hdd running Rockbox).

And both players run Rockbox, which is nice.

For the X5 check out the forums on Iaudiophile:

for the h320 check out the Mysticriver forums.

have you got one of these? looks pretty interesting.........pity there's no way of playing with it before committing the cash

I need to know what format the Line In records on. need high quality - would want to use it for interviews, much like one can use an ipod or archos device.

Indeed I have one, it's sat on the desk now feeding AC/DC into my Sound System, and Personally I love it to bits.

The line in doesn't give format, but quality wise it goes up to 320kbps, but as its support is for MP3 and WMA I presume it'll record in one of those.

Personally I couldn't recommend it enough, I mean it's 20gb for less than a 2gb Nano, and out specs the Nano in a lot. It' hasn't got a colour screen, but who needs one for music?

To give you a better idea of Size then scan's pic:
