About LinkBacksOK! basicaly, my computer is telling me I have two 'virtual' processor and of course 1 'physical' processor. What does this mean? I only want the one lol!! Any help on how to make it one or what this is would be much apreciated! Thanks!

Basically many pentium4s have a technology called hyper threading which makes it "like" two processors in multiple threaded apps. You can turn it off but you may as well leave it on tbh.

I know that in Task Manager you will see 2 CPU graphs for dual core processors. Not sure if hyperthreading is the same as dual core?
But I do know that in task manager it gives you the option to display a global cpu usage rather than 2 seperate cpu usage graphs for each core.
Unfortunatly, I can't tell you the exact options, as my dual core pc is borken at the moment. But I seem to remember it being a tickable option in the drop down options at the top of task manager.
This will make it only show one graph, or one core processor if thats what you wanted, lol.
HT is not dual core, infact i think it was more marketing than anything, they are scrapping it now iirc.
Ht does give a boost in video editing etc and afaik if does not cause less performance anywhere else so i would leave it, but you may want to check that.

Change the tab in PM to Performance. View menu, CPU History, One graph, all CPUs.

remeber thou, if a program isn't well designed, it will ONLY use one VIRTUAL or PHYSICAL CPU.
Apaco of which means that the CPU graph will show 50% useage, when the hyperthreading engine is actually using like 80% of the CPU, and that program is using as much as it can take.

Damn right it was all a case of the bing bong bing bing bit had reached it's annoying limits so they added a little bit of a sparkle to the top right and hey presto 10 mil more intel owners
In all seriousness though it has a minor increase in encoding etc (IMHO) but I have had a Mobile Barton that has exceeded many HT rated chips

This seems like a technology that just won't stop coming back.
It seemed to work quite well on IBM power and the Tera (now Cray) MTA and most recently the Sun SPARC. Having said that, Cray seem to have switched to Opterons
Seems to be swings and roundabouts.
