New Computer.
Hello,
Is it a bad climate to be building a new machine, should i wait for AM2 to become more established? I only have £400 to spend and an ASROCK motherboard as the basis of my platform seems like a good bet taking into account the expansion board.
Can i ask for the forum members opinions?
laze.

I wouldn't wait for AM2. You will pay a premium for the newest platform, and it won't be worth it at all, for a good while.
Get yourself a decent 939 chip, preferably, Dual Core.:)

what you looking to buy for your £400?
ASrock 939Dual for £42
Opteron 165 for £210 (you should get about 2.4Ghz with this, it's dual core)
and...
How about 2Gb Corsair VS for £120?
Then you can use your exisiting graphics card and upgrade to an X1800XT (pick of the bunch performance wise) for about £175 when you have the extra cash.....
Depends what you need to buy really, definately consider the first two items though.

The ASROCK board and Opteron CPU's are the obvious bargains, is Corsair VS the best performing value memory, nothing around that compares with the TwinMOS BH-5 days?

Don't know much about bargain RAM i'm afraid ...corsair has always been good to me though :) ...I'd always go for budget RAM in future builds...think the extra money is better spend elsewhere
