    CAn someone recommend a supplier?

Long story short: overclockers.co.uk are wasters.

I need a supplier that will deliver to Ireland from the U.K. I'm making a zero-vat order so ebuyer.com are no use.

Can anyone recommend a good one. I need an LG 17" TFT, OCZ RAM and a P4 2.6.

    TIA

Just going to throw a few I know of into the thread....

    Komplett.co.uk
    dabs.com
    tekheads.co.uk
    scan.co.uk

Can't think of any others at the moment, but have a look at those and see if they do what you need.

thanks. dabs and scan have a bad rep from what i hear.

can't find the LCD on tekheads. komplett are good and there's a komplett.ie (uk one won't ship to ireland) but their stock is very low at the moment (changed warehouse i think).

    anyone dealt with microdirect.co.uk?

    thanks

I've always found Dabs to be very good, I've bought plenty from them over the years and certainly rec them.

Everyone has probs with one supplier or another from time to time.

I have edited the subject for 2 reasons:

    1. unfair to overclockers.co.uk to shout about quality of service. as austin says
Everyone has probs with one supplier or another from time to time.
    2. after making a large order and going round in cirlces regarding V.A.T, credit card and delivery issues they seemed to have resolved it:
    Sir

Good news at last, I've put your details through on a new order and
    the bank
have authorised the payment without any problems, all we have to do
    now is a
name and address check. Is the name and address you supplied where
    your bank
    statements are sent?

If all goes through now we can refund the VAT and ship the order out
    tonight

    Regards,
    Alex
depending on the end result i'll might even buy from the again.

While i was waiting to hear more from them i spend a *long* time reading Vaul's post regarding overclockers and his faulty components. Its an interesting read. Hopefully it works out. Might have affected my decision on whether I would have used them or not.

cant you do 0 vat if you set up a trade account with Ebuyer ?
probably, but i didn't have enough details to do a trade a/c. i wanted to be able to buy the parts off my own credit card through the company. Ebuyer want the c/c to be belonging to the company, same delivery address etc. wasn't worth it. Overclockers didn't need that.

    thanks for the replies

EDIT: ok for some reason it won't let me save changes to edits of the subject line....

everyone has a bad reputation - rmas with OCUK, scan and komplett have taken AGES, the former 2 particularly.

but dabs have been my saving grace. they once accidently sent me a £200 external cd burner

Dabs are ok, they just very much follow the system with no negotiation. I've successfully returned a Gigabyte RXP mobo within 30 days for a full refund. Once you are passed the 30 days it is a manufacturer warrantly issue which they will progress for you. The good news is you can follow progress on their automated system.

Scan were also ok when I had to return a faulty PNY Graphics card although it took them about 3 weeks to refund. It was possible to check progress.

Overclockers have good prices but are a nightmare when things go wrong, on line RMA was ignored, ignored e-mails, promising to telephone back (Dan Lees, he never did) and denying receipt of a special delivery, until I claimed compensation from Royal mail and then it turned up in their system. Took over 3 months to get a refund.

Novatech (London) and Savastore (Luton) are also good if they have the stock and can be visited.

Do't forget you have 7 days distance selling on your side and if you can visit Savastore they have a 3 day money back no quibbles guarantee, good for checking compatibility type issues.

    Just my experience.

    regards....Roger
