    Help Overclocking My Graphics Card

I'm using Rivatuner and when i go to increase core or memory clock and hit test i get the error 'the driver failed to pass internal test with the clock frequencies you are about to set. Please decrease clock frequencies and try again.'
So i decreased it to see if the same message would come up and yes it did...
The card is a leadtek 128mb 6800le (check spec)
Whenever i run rivatuner at startup it says that my driver is not officially compatible with that version and i need to update it though i have the newest one available (v2.0 RC 15.8)
The driver currently being used is 'Forceware'
Can anyone help or would using a different program be a simpler idea?

how far are you trying to move it up? Just install coolbits and do it in the drivers, no need to faf in rivatuner unles you want to unlock pipes etc.

not suprising really, most of the 6800 that unlocks dont clock all that well.. sometimes the pipes were disabled for obvious binning reasons (faulty most probably)..

Try overclocking without unlocking, using Rivatuner. When you have something stable, clock it down a little and set it to boot at those settings (there is a way to override this if necessary (Ctrl at startup, I think).

Then, power cycle, unlock the pipes/verts with Rivatuner and restart.

You should find that it now works with an unlock and an overclock together!

(this is what I did when I had a 6800le)

Coolbits doesn't work either, both programs won't even let me clock down! The stable settings (default) are 325/800 while the limits they have given me are:
    Core - 295-410
    Memory - 720-1000
So there is plenty of room to play around but it just won't let me
When i bought the card it had already unlocked 16pipes and 6 vertex shaders (bought in here) but don't know why it won't overclock

like i said, the pipes are sometimes locked for obvious reasons.. try schmunk's method by locking back the pipes, overclock then set it down a little with the startup settings ticked.. restart.. then unlock the pipes again..

    Worth a shot I suppose..

6800le stock is 8 pipes, 4 verts. Overclock at that, set to start at this speed, then unlock. It's the only way I found to get a decent overclock as well as an unlock.

    Promise.
