Thinkpad R52 ?
Im looking at geting a Thinkpad R52 as our first laptop.
- I dont really know what im looking for, but ive do a fair bit of reaserch, and the thinkpads seam to be pritty releable and solid, and around the £800 mark seams to be about the right price range to go for. Just wondering what you think really?

if you know anyone who works for IBM* they might be able to get some bargains through their EPP (employee purcase plan), not sure if they do an 'educational/student' discount type thing cos that might be worth looking at too :)
*or lenovo!

I have gone through a fair number of laptops in the last few years, only the IBM has survived the ordeal I put them through and its survived it in the most spectacular fashion.
Never a crash, never a power problem....they seem pretty-much indestructable and perform well to boot :)

We use IBM laptops as part of out student laptop scheme. Personally I think they are overpriced tosh. On ours its mainly hdd failures though the hinges aint been that great either. We have around 500 of varying models.
Only good thing our students get is the 3 year warranty and boy do they need it.

I've had an IBM T20, T22 and now a T40, these were all work machines, not bought with my own hard earned - all been great laptops, sound build quality and the best keyboard in the laptop business IMO. Not much cop for games etc but for a work machine I love 'em.
