    good speakers

Hey. Im looking for some good quality speakers to go with my creative x-fi music sound card. Im looking to buy them from scan for less than £100.

I listen to a lot of music and play alot of games. I also watch a few tv rips from time to time. Not paticualry fussed about 5.1 coz ive just had some and i didnt really get much out of them, although they were only cheap ones that have now died.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks in advance

I got a creative T7900 (7.1) off eBay for about £30, great speakers. Cheap for £30 too, I think the RRP is about £80. They looked very new when I got them though, they were classes as 'refurbished' AKA nicked off the back of a truck probably .

I have some 4gamers 5.1 (my old speakers) which work good (rear left speaker doesn't work for some reason though), but it is more of an emulated surround sound rather than anything else. But they support Dolby Digital, Pro Logic, DTS and stereo so they are better in that sense than the creative ones I have now. They're not in use so if your interested in buying them PM me .

I'm using an x-fi and z-2200 (Last gen z-2300 which are meant to be acousticaly near identical). They're a great combo IMO

Got mine from pixmania for way less than anywhere else about 2 years ago

I have these which are very good in my opinion. I read around a lot and these came out pretty much on top for the price range (back in December)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=163824 for £118

which you can get from pixmania for £98 - (does come with a european plug but you can change it easily)

    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/7101...0-speaker.html

But since you said you dont really care about 5.1, you could go for their 2.1 counterparts (the i-trigue 3600) but i cant seem to find them anywhere...so maybe thats useless)

    thanks for the replies guy's

Im thinking of going for one of these two

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=163824

thanks for the recommendation. I read a review on these in custom pc (excellent mag) nearly a year ago and they came well recommended. but i dont have loads of space and i'd struggle to get the most out of a 5.1 system. But of course they would be good for a media pc in the future.

    and these.....(or something similar)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=280825

good review from tom's hardware http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/2004/11/11/logitech_z/

think the sound quality is better and they are nice and compact so it would make my life easier. But they are a similar price to the creatives and maybe i'm better off with paying a lil bit extra for 5.1

    decisons decisions........

As i said the i-trigue come in 2.1 flavour too and ive found them for £75 @

    http://www.lowestonweb.com/products/...3-EC2ECC51A4AA

Of course its still only 15 quid more for the 5.1 but if you cant fit them you cant fit (although you could just plug in the front 2 speakers and store the others away until you have room)

Anyway lowestonweb are good from my experience, fast delivery etc.

Head to Ebay.. get a cheap amp for £40 and some hal=decent hi-fi speakers for £40 and cables from richer sounds with the rest to connect them up and you'll beat a PC system any day .. i did that and i don;t regret it for a moment
    AMD3000+ ATIX800XL + GBNF44x mobo.. all at stock because they're good enough atm + CA A1 amp-->Mission 73S Loigtech MX1000 + 1GB ram + 1/3 TB HD array
Wintendo XP + Linux (when it works) .. just incase you were wondering

mmmmm im really undecided. Ive seen the 5.1 version on ebuyer for £100 inc delivary. But comparing the specs of the two sets i picked out there is a massive difference in terms of power.

Your point about just using 2 of the speakers is a neat idea.

I do listen to loads of music but i do play lots of games especially first person shooters which are usually 5.1 and eax.

Just concerend im sacrificing some sound quality for an extra 3 speakers i might not even be able to use.

I think whatever set I choose I will end up with good speakers. just gotta make a choice and quick!
