    CD/DVD Connections

Sorry to be a bit dumb here, but what is the Digital Out connection on the back of my DVD ROM player. Mine seems to work fine, and the quality is fine, with just the Analogue connection connected.

The clue is in the name

The digital connection comes into play if you plumb it through the sound system via the spdif connections and out into the digital input of a digital capable surround system.

If you've only got analogue speakers you won't notice any benefit.

I presume that means either going out of the case and back in again for an on-board sound card or straight into a digital input on a suitably specd soundcard. My board is an NF7-S.
