    nForce 4 drivers

    Hiya dudes...new stuff arrived today

Bit confused by nVidia's driver page. With my new Asus A8N-E board (ie not SLi)

The screen looks like this (as thousands of you know already )

    Which one is needed?

    nforce4 AMD or nForce4 AMD/Intel X16

I have no idea what X16 is, except it might refer to x16 PCI Express.

Which is which? ANd which do I need? Cheers

I got lucky....I found what I really wanted...and affordable ATI card

Much as I'd love to blow over £200 on a 7900 GT, they're just not in stock....a 7600 GT tempted me ... but then my boss here at Hexus, David, found me an older ATI card and I've got that.

    X800 XT PE
I loved my X800 Pro (AGP) and I sold it to make way for my upgrade. This XT 16 pipe beauty is waaay sufficient (this month ) for my IL-2 fetish And it has about a ton of other stuff to use too!! Web cams's and ViVo boxes abound!!!

Shall crack on with this for a few months I think

    Thanks for rapid replies guys.....

Excellent. I was tempted to get an X1900 XT (possibly XTX), then really came to my senses, overcame my upgrade-itis and decided a better mobo is all I need. My Opteron is only sitting at a 10% overclock at 2.2ghz and has been tested to hit 3ghz, so and is probably causing a rather unhealthy bottleneck to my 7800GTX

Then, I came down with a second case of upgrade-itis and am now sat procrastinating over waiting for Conroe / AM2 before I bother

I think Nvidia need to clean up their driver download page at some point, it used to be sooooo easy to find what you wanted....when Hexus guys are getting confused....you know it's getting bad.

I take that as a compliment chap but I am the second least technical member of staff, the worst being David's cat! And even his cat is better at BIOS updates than moi

However......I "could" ask this kinda thing in private, or ring one of my colleagues, BUT whenever I think of something that other people might also be struggling with, I make it public.

Apart from anything else, it gets good Google hits if it's interesting!!! and then helps out loads of other people

And lastly....but not least....you are RIGHT. Nvidia's driver situation is getting more and more complex. Sadly...with the requirement for .Net, so is ATI's.

I'm still an ATI fanboy at heart...hence my happyness over a one year old, last Gen card

I'm not in the habit of slagging of companies, but I have only found one company who's "in stock" system works well enough to trust. Scan's....and even then I ring them!

I have suffered "in stock" syndrome with the above mentioned retailer a few times....I eventually had to give up with them

I shant' turn back. Scan sort me every time AND their return policiy is a dream in comparison. Even to this day, I may be owed some money for an item that I returned a while ago to a-n-other etailer who denies it's arrival...

But nice find nonoe the less.... git

Certainly Nvidia's unified driver architecture for graphics cards doesn't seem to have rubbed off on their mainboard section...I can understand that there may be a lot more architectural changes in chipset design, but it wouldn't harm to tidy up their site a little bit at least...i.e. They've already got links above the selection box for NVIDIA Business Platform Drivers etc. so why leave it in the box below?
Not wishing to start bashing Nvidia too much here...I love em really, but it would be nice if I didn't have to cringe when I get people asking me how to update their drivers...

To wander off on a bit more of a tangent....what's this Free Shipping Offer from Ebuyer?
I just added that 7900GT to my basket to see what the total cost would be, and was informed this discount had been applied, even though it didn't meet this suppose £249 inc VAT minimum? Can anyone clarify?
