thermaltake fan controller!

hi guys hope u can halp, got a hardcano 12 fan controller today everything seems fine n its slowed the fans down, the display lights up but it says 0000 RPM and none fo the buttons are working?!?! just wondering if i am doing soemhtign wrong or im being mugged of the guy had over 1000 items sold with no negative feedback and it was displayed as being in fully working condition!!

how are the fans connected? 4 or 3 pin? if its 3 pin have the got 3 wires? If its either 2 wires or a 4 pin connector you wont get any speed sensing output at all.

they are 3 pin, ive got 3 arcitic cooling fans and a arctic freezer all 3 pin, going into the 3 pin sockets, all the fans are running slowly but its liekt he scrren on in haz frozen and i chant chnage any settign or anything.
