building a system with some parts and 300£

I am building a Pc recently my laptop (AMILO D 8830) motherboard broke and it is just too expensive to fix, so I am using the spare parts to build a desktop.

The processor is an Intel P4 3.06 (FSB 533 MHz) with Hyper Threading the chipset is the common 845PE socket478 (not an M model)

I also have 2 512 DDR (333) (full slot size not SO-Dimm)

Finally I have an 80GB Toshiba laptop 2.5 disk drive model mk8025gas (already bought the HDD cable converter since I needed stuff from my disk)

I also don’t need optical drives because i have a nice LG dual layer external drive. Hum… forget the cooler, floppy (who still uses?) and all the other small crap I might be forgetting.

So I will need the following parts:

Motherboard compatible with my previous processor and without an onboard graphics card (just plain stupid add-on that increases the price);
Case;
Power supply if not included with Case or without sufficient power (or just crappy);
Network card and sound card if not included with motherboard (very rare these days);
Nice graphics card. (The best I can get without burning my budget)
Monitor tft 17in

So can someone help me find the parts that I need using the tight budget of 300£.
I know it is hard but I already matched same nice systems and already have some parts in mind, I just want an opinion from someone that knows.

Not much experience with Intels - but what speed is the Hard disk - 5400rpm or 7200? If its the latter then its not so much of a problem, but laptop hard disks are usually slower than their desktop counterparts.

Onto the Monitor, I would suggest something like the LG1715S (scan stock it). I've got one (bought when it still cost 250+) but can be picked up for under 150.
Power Supply, get the best you can afford - I'm currently using a Seasonic, though I had a Hiper previously, and that was pretty much as good (though less powerful)
Soundcard - best use the onboard stuff untill you can afford an X-Fi or something.
Graphics wise, it depends on whether its AGP or PCI-e (i can never remember with intel which it supports) but someone else should be able to help in that dept.
Case wise - something like the Asus ones from Scan - around 30-40 iirc, not bad looking

looks fine but the major features are inside although i dont understand the ODDs' system

this other is just a simple budget case but i dont know why i kind of like it ( the psu would just fly out of there)

Have you considered a barebones system. You get a case, PSU (normally a low power one admittedly), motherboard with on board VGA. If you're not planning on heavy 3D gaming, it might be ideal for you.

I doubt i will be able enjoy anything with onboard graphics, i not a heavy gamer but I still like to play some titles. So any idea for a good PCI-E card that adjusts with an old socket478 system.
