    AMD 4200 X2 Shutdown temp

    Hi all,

    1st.......like the new green look!

Right, my AMD 4200 X2 cpu is sitting at 52 c and it's at idle. It working as a server for around 20 people and the server room is warm today. ( got another air con on way )

What is a safe running temp for this cpu? I have set the shutdown temp to 65c.

    Thanks all

    Darren

EDIT: system has not been oc'd in any way!

Try this http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop/Default.aspx then view details, should list max temp.
i think 70c is about the max working temp.

It'll work at 52oC but if thats idle whats it hitting when it working?

My 3800 sits at 23oC but my room temps only about 25, I say get the aircon in and up the shutdown temp a bit, wouldnt want it to die midway thru the day cos it thinks its about to blow up

Typo, or have you gone for some very low wattage Peltier cooling?

Those temps aren't unrealistic, but they are very low. Have you done a burn-in on your CPU yet to ensure it's working on a constant temp range? Also, some motherboards report temperatures + or - a few degrees.

Machine has been rebuilt lately but that was about 10 weeks ago now when I got the new case, its been sat there running Rosetta, playing BF2, downloading and various other things.
Yes I know the temps arent going to be 100% accurate but if were all using the same tool to measure then thats a start, CPU temps dropped by 3oC when I changed case, that could of just been reapplication of the CPU goo tho..
