Looking like conroe for July, wondering what exactly will be needed, for now it looks as there is only a couple of boards, badaxe and an albatron. What is expected around release, is there anything that looks good or you have heard about.

With Intel's Core 2 Duo "Conroe" CPU, Intel's recommended memory spec is DDR2-800 CAS4 (available from decent memory makers such as Crucial and Corsair) and Intel's current i975X chipsets supports Core 2, as will Intel's new i965, which hopefully will be a slightly more reasonably priced alternative as i975X boards are on the pricey side. As it utilises a S775 board the power supply required is exactly the same as with the Pentium D and obviously i975X and i965 only support PCI-E graphics. Can't think of any other requirements, but it should rock!

Core2 isn't as needing of decent latencies compared to AM2
Yes, but running the ram synchronously to the fsb of the processor is fairly important though not mandatory (you can also run the ram slightly faster than the cpu at a 5:4 ratio but this is only marginally faster.)
Id just get some well priced, stuff, at 2GB.
You can run a divider. Like i said, These chips seem to be similar to the A64, in that they dividers, and ram timmings aren't that important, it's CPU speed that counts. of course if you want the best possible performance, you'll get better ram.
If you could tell us which particular processor model you are going for, your intentions with cooling and overclocking and your budget for RAM, im sure we could come up with something.
Too bad Conroe is not supported on my P5WD2 Premium. Why don't they just give it a new socket if its not compatible with many of the old boards.
