Will same RAM be available later?

hello, I am thinking of purchasing the 2GB corsair 6400 PRO, for my new PC. However, I plan to uprgade to 4GB using the same memory later this year, when Vista comes along. However, can I be sure that the same RAM (6400PRO) will be available later this year? I a don't want to use anything else, as I have been told it is not good to mix different types of RAM.

    Thanks!

I haven't come accross any problems mixing brands of ram, however, any sticks added in will run at the speed of the slowest component, be that a stick of ram of the fsb (barton days, no idea what it is now).

So get 2gb now, and possibly when vista comes along newer/faster ram will have become available, or your old set will have dropped in price, so it will be cheaper to buy the extra. I would guess though that being 6400 pro its ddr2 and that it is pretty high performance? so I would be supprised if they were to drop it with the impending release of AM2

Be careful though as not all motherboards can actually support 4GB of ram correctly, even though it says it can, tell us the motherboard model and mabe someone who has more knowledge of intel (im guessing its intel) can help you further.

Its not always the motherboard which has the problem. Windows (with the exception of 2k3 server varieties) is unable to effectively manage (or even detect in some cases) 4gb of ram, however this will change with the arrival of vista (which is when I guess you intend to buy the second set - for use with vista?)
