    Pci-e = Agp :(

    OK, so I just found out that my motherboard, although has PCi-E 16X port, actually the bandwidth is that of an AGP card. I am getting an X1800XT! Would this significantly lower the performance of the card and should I get an X1600 instead

    No you'll be fine. Only something like Quad Sli would saturate the 8x bandwidth
